Bits & Pieces on KANE from 'The King'

Kamala went on to the World Wrestling Federation and had a huge run with Hulk Hogan. He made nothing but money with that gimmick. He ended up buying a house and two eighteen-wheeler trucks. When he stopped wrestling, he fulfilled his dream, which was to drive his own eighteen wheeler rig. The Rock was talking about him on a show with Kane recently. Hogan said to Rock that he was worried about Kane because he’s a big, scary guy. He’d been drafted by Raw and Hogan and Rock were Smackdown!

Rock said, “I know he’s a big and scary guy, but you’ve been against a lot of big and scary guys. This guy’s no Andre the Giant. This guy’s no Kamala!” And the Rock slapped his stomach.

Then I said that the whole ordeal affected me so much I had to go to my dentist to have some work done on my mouth. We introduced a new character, Dr. Isaac Yankem, who was my personal dentist. It was a classic. Isaac Yankem is Glenn Jacobs, who is now Kane.

He was real big with a dental smock and a metal disk on his head. They made up his teeth to be rotten. When I introduced him, I said Isaac Yankem is so tough, he could floss his teeth with barbed wire. I said here is a man who is so dedicated to his profession that he has let his own teeth become an example of what can happen to you children if you don’t practice good dental hygiene. He is a living, walking, breathing example of terrible dental hygiene.

We told the good doctor about Bret Hart and what he did. They rented a dental office and filmed Dr. Yankem pulling some kid’s teeth, with no Novocain or anything. We wound up wrestling Bret Hart in a PPV match.

I saw Glenn Jacobs (Kane) in Nashville when we were getting ready for Judgment Day. His arm was recovering from surgery pretty well, though he had a big medical contraption fitted over his elbow. He’d been worked on by the famous Dr. Andrews of Birmingham, who’s the guy who fixes the arms of all the baseball pitchers. He did Bo Jackson’s hip replacement. When you see Glenn you’re reminded why he has to wear that scary mask in the ring. Without it, he’s such a nice-looking, soft spoken, guy.

Kane has come a long way from his turn as Dr. Isaac Yankem. He wrestled as the Unabomber out of Knoxville for a time and as the Christmas Creature for us. My son Kevin thought that up. Kevin was the first guy to use Glenn really. Christmas Creature appeared at a Christmas Show in Missouri, which is where Glenn grew up. He wore a full green body suit with tinsel wrapped ‘round him. I think Glenn’s mom made the outfit. Kevin Nash and Scott Hall were working for WWE as Diesel and Razor Ramon. They quite and went to WCW but Vince owned the names and he brought Glenn in as the new Diesel. The new Razor Ramon looked a bit like Scott actually. They just used the same names, same outfits, everything. It didn’t work. I guess the WWE was trying to prove that they owned these characters but the fans didn’t buy the replacements.
